American coin silver water pitcher by Boston silversmith, Vincent LaForme, and retailed by Bigelow Brothers & Kennard. Circa 1855. This pitcher is decorated with a repousse grape vine motif. Vincent LaForme trained with his father and operated one of the last shops in mid-nineteenth century Boston to fashion silver by hand, rather than by than machine. This pitcher demonstrates the fine craftsmanship that was typical of LaForme's work. Monogrammed 'MAP'. Size: 9.5 inches ht. x 6.75 inches across spout x 5 inches diameter. Condition: very good.
