A marvelous antique boxed newel post in oak with white paint, dating from the 1880s. Salvaged out of Pittsburgh, this box newel features carved rosettes and half-rosettes with concentric circles. A double groove pattern comes down the body to a wide base with beveled details. The newel is in very good antique condition with minor wear and chips as shown. The newel post measures 10-3/4†wide and 50-1/2†tall.
