An unusual mustard ground is the backdrop for the lovely handpainted vignette panels in this beautifully detailed SATSUMA earthenware bowl. The corners of the bowl are canted, giving the bowl a foliate or flower shape and the exterior floral decorations are well painted creating a full exterior motif as striking as the interior floral rim and vignettes.
