Signed handpainted peacock Locke Worcester sugar and creamer in figural silver plate stand with birds. England, 1900-1904. Stand by Walker and Hall, Sheffield.Total height is 7 1/2inches.Cream body with orange-tan variations, raised moulded acanthus leaves and gilded rims and highlights. Each piece is handpainted with a brightly coloured, crowned peacock in a naturalistic setting. Hint of blue sky. Great detail.Each piece is signed by the artist: I LEWIS and marked in green underneath with the Shrub Hill Works mark, used between 1900-4.THe sugar has a wonderful repousse lid with openwork for scattering the sugar, done in classic Georgian style. Silver plate stand on round legs with double long-beaked dragon/bird finial on top. Fully marked by the facory underneath. (Walker and Hall and Hard & Silver soldered).Excellent condition.
