Antique Georgian double ring made of 15K gold. Made in England, 18th century. US size 5 1/2. The ring consists of a double band of parallel lines, with identically set stones, set apart by a fraction of an inch so that they are staggered. The lines consist of the following stones respectively: a sapphires, two small diamonds, a ruby, two small diamonds, a sapphire. This makes for a highly attractive and interesting ring. Petite and finely worked, especially considering the limited technology available at the time. The coloured stones are set in raised gold collets with unusual scrolls around the borders. The area enclosing the diamonds is silver. There are no hallmarks, but the ring tests for at least 15 carats. Good original condition.
