Rectangular smokey quartz stone mounted in 14kt gold - rather a Deco setting, emerald cut to the stone, with the shoulders splitting into two and forming the claws of the setting. Stone measures 12 mm by 7 mm (1/2 inch by just over 1/4 inch). The ring fitting is English size J (USA size 4.1/2 to 5) with an internal diameter of 15.52 mm. The mount and band are in excellent condition, the stone looks good to the naked eye - under magnification it shows abrasions to the facet edges, especially the lower edges. Hallmarks are unusually stamped underneath the setting of the stone, and are rather rubbed. There is another hallmark in the usual place, which just says "CT" - presumably the ring was sized down at some time, and the rest of the mark lost. Attractive ring, very classic lines.
