Rare Museum Quality Antique 17th century Polish bronze belt formed of a series of silvered scrollwork’s links arranged in groups of two between flower head links bejeweled with ruby red glass and fitted with rectangular bronze panels ,each embossed with foliage within a ropework frame set with a small crescent hanger for the dagger suspension decorated with winged cupid head. The hinged buckle is formed of two bronze segments adorned with a baroque foliage ornament fitted on the back with a hook and loop closure.

REFERENCES: Comparable belt is published in the Thomas del Mar catalogue 30 June 2010, lot 300 .Sold for: £ 1440. Similar examples of these rare belts described as 17th century Polish belts are in the collection of the Museum national in Krakow published in the book "Pasy metalowe Polskie i obce w zbiorach Muzeum Narodowego w Krakowie" By Kazimierz Buczkowski ,Bronislawa Marekowska . Also similar belts described as 17th century Polish “Chain –mail “belts(17th century Polskie Pasy pancerzowe) have been presented at the exhibition -Pasja Zbjerania Kolekcja Ryszarda Z.Janiaka" catalogue of the exhibits in “The Royal Castle in Warsaw,” A Passion for Collecting - The Collection of Ryszard Z.Janiak, in the Royal Castle in Warsaw 2007 and are published in the catalogue from the exhibition.

CONDITION: The belt is in overall good condition.
