Is an original historic 1852 Artists Proof Engraving of George Washington by Thomas B. Welch. This extremely rare piece of history was engraved based upon the famous original portrait by Gilbert Stuart in the Athenaeum in Boston. It's an authentic engraving proof, which was likely printed by A.E. Lent and published by George W. Childs of Philadelphia, PA. If the image looks familiar it is because it is the exact image used on the $1 bill! The word proof is in the lower left corner of the engraving.

On the bottom of the engraving under a facsimile signature there appears the following lines of test:

Print comes in a beautiful ornate gold trimmed antique wooden frame which measures 32" x 26" and is in fair condition with some chips and breaks around the ornate edges.

Print is 162 years old and is in very good condition for its age. This print has not been removed from its original frame and will ship as pictured.
