The markings on the ricasso of this sword suggest that this very unusual Hunting Sword was made in the village of Tjikoreh, ( now Chikorea ), on the island of Java. This village was well known for producing quality weapons and was the place where Dutch Colonials went for custom swords. While this sword has a European style antler hilt adorned with acorns and a guard with reverse quillions, the blade shape seems come from another source. Well constructed the blade swells to a clip point with a false edge. There are fullers on both sides, adorned with a scroll engraving. The scabbard is constructed of wood with nickeled fittings. The ricasso is marked TJI.KR and dated 1907. There is some scattered pitting on one side of the blade. Overall in very good condition. The sword is 29" overall with a 23" blade which bears much of the original polish.
