Gilt enamelled souvenier spoon from St. Petersburg, Russia. Very early.Measures 5 1/4inches long.Heraldic shape to terminal with gilt scrolling edge and enamelled landscape showing the famous statue of Peter the Great, founder of the City with title in Cyrillic script. The beautifully shaped handle is gilded and has foliage at either end. The bowl of the spoon has a gilt border patterned with texture and scrolls containing a view of the city. Made by FINSBURY in England.Each thimble has a gold band around the bottom, a photo of the Presidents and British Royalty with name, dates of the terms of each. Inside each thimble is name of manufacturer FINSBURY Fine Bone China Made in England.Thimbles include Ronald Reagan, Herbert hoover, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Ulysses S Grant, H.R.H. Prince William of Wales to commemmorate his 1st birthday 21st June 1983 with his mother Princess Dianna. Theodore Roosevelt, Andrew Jackson, John F Kennedy, Franklin D Roosevelt, Harry Truman, George Washington. Condition of most of the thimbles is mint. Andrew Jackson has a small rim chip, which is the only damage. The band of gold on the Lincoln thimble doesn''t quite close, but this is part of the manufacture.Thimbles come in blue box.
