Columbian Exposition Spice Bin. Yellow; Gold; brown; blue; red and black. Lithographed tin. The tin has a roll top mechanism in its upper front portion. The entire surface is lithographed and painted. On the front panel, two women in Roman togas hold a drape over a portrait of Christopher Columbus. Beneath this is a detailed painting of the Manufacturers and Liberal Arts Building including Roman columns and ships in the lake in the foreground. It is marked, "Worlds Fair Manufacturers and Liberal Arts Building." Beneath this is a shield with the Stars and Stripes and the entire scene is surrounded by gold scrolling in an Art Nouveau design. The roll top is hand painted with the words, "McLaughlins Spices." The sides and back are painted yellow with an overall stars and maize pattern in black.
