This Delightful Sculpture “Children with Birdcage", in the manner of Jean-Baptiste Pigalle, is in Excellent Overall Condition, c. late 19th Century. Modelled with two young children capturing a bird from its nest, after a work by the Rococo sculptor Jean-Baptiste Pigalle (1714-1785) titled “Child with Birdcage” dated after 1750. The sculpture was very well-received at the Paris Salon of 1750, after which Pigalle agreed to allow the sculpture to be adapted for production in Sèvres biscuit. The Sèvres version shows two children where the original sculpture has only one, our version is most likely made from a mold based on the Sèvres porcelain. Measuring 14” Dia x 19 1/2” H, serious inquiries are welcome! Item ID: H294639 Shipping and insurance are determined after checkout.
