Bronze Bacchus by Paul Wayland Bartlett, (American, 1865-1925). Bartlett's work is found in most major museums throughout the US. He was responsible for the marble figures depicting different aspects of life which adorn the US Capitol building and to the best of our knowledge we believe this to be a bronze cast of one of these figures. Sensitive and beautifully executed, this bronze is part in relief in that it is partly unfinished on the back side, sugggesting that it was specifically made to be against a wall. 49"H, signed at the base.
