Manikandan, also known as Ayyappan, is the Hindu god born to the Union between Shiva and Vishnu, when Vishnu took his avatar of Mohini. He is particularly loved by the Tamil and Kerala communities. This painting depicts him with two of the big wild cats - the Lion and the Leopard. The former is his traditional vahana, and this painting beautifully shows him riding the lion, holding in his hands his selected weapon of warfare - the bow and arrow. Painted by the Reverse Glass Painting technique, this is an artistic masterpiece that would grace any modern day wall with color and wonder.
