This ancient Khotan rug from East Turkestan features pastel colors and a gently asymmetrical design. Kaleidoscopic flowers mark the center of the rug's design, clustered amongst swirls of deep blue color and stylish black flourishes. The outline and background of the mat is a rich brick red. Buddhist Khotan designs encompass the rug's soft colors. The thin, black lines are reminiscent of artistic design after the annexation of the Kingdom of Khotan and the Tibetan takeover of Ligui. This is a remarkable rug that beautifully matches any color of room or furniture imaginable.

Antique Kerman Rug from Central Persia, late nineteenth century
Whirling sprays of flowers and serrated leaves in blue, green, tan, and ivory repeat dynamically in staggered symmetry across the soft crimson field of this elegant little antique Kerman. The main border is a classic Persian cartouche design, reduced in scale and set against a crimson ground to complement the field design. Additional minor borders of stylized vinescrolls and blossom garlands on dark brown and ivory serve to delineate the main border as a frame more strongly against the field. The rich saturated and varied coloration is unusual on antique Kermans.
