Early country French walnut wall pipe box c1800. This pipe rack or box has a dish carved face that lifts up to reveal the inside which originally held clay pipes. Measures 15 and one half inches high by seven inches wide and three and one half inches deep. Excellent deep carving detail. Dates to the first quarter of the 19th century.   « Less

Casted Bronze F Gornik Cigar Ashtray measures 8 and one quarter inches by 6 and one half inches and is 4 inches high at the highest point. Friedrich Gornik Austrian B 1877 D 1943. He studied sculpture at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts. He did work for porcelain factories in Austria depicting small animals later having them cast in bronze. Signed F Gornik with a AR foundry mark.Gornik was an excellent sculptor and his works well regarded. This casted bronze ashtray has two birds which can be seen in more detail in the accompanying photographs.   « Less

A very attractive Japanese, Golden Era cloisonne cigarette case with a blue, writhing dragon against a white field. The interior is enameled in blue to create a complete statement. The brass or bronze case was originally silvered but that has worn away on the contact surfaces. While there is only minor cracking and mini chips from use, it seems that moisture has entered at the seams and created some discoloration at the edges. The elastic bands that retain the cigarettes in place are missing. A very seldom encountered piece of Golden Era cloisonne. Approximately 3.5" by 4.75".   « Less

The face of the case depicts gold gilt cranes among the rushes with Fujimi Yama in the background, the reverse depicts gold gilt cranes in flight. The top of the case has a cross hatced design. This item has been SOLD. A beautiful Imperial Russian Cigarette Case with a later Soviet inscription engraved on the back, dated 1928. Research suggests that these fine silver items were confiscated by the revolutionary government and used as awards for various "Soviet" achievements. That seems to be what occurred with this case, The face of the case is decorated with a classic bas relief lion under an arch of leaves and flanked by palms. The case corners are rounded and there is a ruby/garnet cabochon thumb. The interior is gilt with some wear and retains the fabric cigarette retainers. Both sides of the case bear touch marks as shown in the photos. The back has an engraved presentation and has some surface abrasion and a very small dent at the top. A beautiful piece of history waiting to be revealed. Size is three by four and three eights inches.   « Less

This item has been SOLD. This fine quality, sterling grade cigarette case is an example of the Deco influence on late Imperial style. The classic Deco motif etched on the face is complimented by the elegant form. The thumb is an oval ruby color cabochon, The gilt interior is in very good condition showing light wear from use. Each side of the interior case bears an assayers mark and the 84 Zolotnik stamp. The exterior shows light abrasions from use. Size 3.35: x 4.25". C 1910.   « Less
