For sale is a lovely Art Glass Vase made by Loetz Klostermuehle of Bohemia which is now the modern day Czech Republic. The Pattern is called "Papillon" and the form is a Flower Vase. The Vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 4 1/8" tall and has a diameter of 3 3/8" at its widest point. The bottom of the vase has a diameter of 1 5/8". The Vase has an outstanding Gold Papillon (Oil Spot) Decoration. The elongated mottles are tightly packed next to each other in a vertical fashion. The iridescence is just outstanding as you can see vivid colors of Golds, Blues, and and some Fuchsia along with Platinum Blue on the bottom side. The vase displays a classic Greek Urn shape. It starts out thin at the bottom, then flares out at an angle and then it comes back in. The neck rises up above the body and flares out ever so gently. The neck is fairly tall for the vessel. The base glass is clear glass with this applied Papillon Decoration. The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The opening at the top has a nicely polished and beveled top lip. The bottom does not have a counter sunk polished pontil. This means this vase was blown into a mold from the top then cut at the top and polished. This was very typical of your European Glass Houses to do this. The American Houses usually displayed a counter sunk and polished pontil with a fire polished rolled edge. The Vase is unsigned as is typical of Loetz vases. It more than likely had a paper label at one time. There is no doubt that this is Loetz as this decorated pattern technique is a well documented design. The vase is very clean outside and in and it shows minimal signs of use. This is one of the nicest Gold Papillon Decor Vases I have ever owned. The decoration is brilliant and well defined. I'm quite sure the lucky buyer will be very pleased with their purchase. This vase was made circa 1899-1905 and is considered the early years for Loetz.   « Less

For sale I have a very hard to find piece of pottery made by Brush McCoy of Roseville, Ohio. The shape is a Vase and it is glazed in a wonderful Matte Green Glaze. The Vase measures 8 1/4" tall and is 4 1/2" in diameter at the base. The opening of the Vase is 2 3/4" wide at the outside rim. This Vase displays a lovely shape. It resemble that of a Beaker. It has a very nice tapered form. It is wide at the bottom and rises up in a tapered fashion with the top lip flaring out. The Matte Green Glaze is simply, outstanding!! It is dark and rich and is very similar to Weller's Bedford Matt and Roseville's Matt Green Glazes of the day. This Vase is would make a wonderful addition to any Arts and Crafts style home or collection. The Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The vase is not signed but has a number 064 impressed into the bottom of it. This is the identifying mark that it is a Brush McCoy Vase. Those dealers and collectors know what they are looking at. For sale is a lovely vase made by Loetz Klostermuehle of Bohemia which is now the modern day Czech Republic. The Pattern is called "Wellenoptisch / Oceanik" and the form is a " Squat Melon Optic Ribbed Vase. The Vase is a good size as it stands 4 1/8" tall and has a diameter of 6 3/4" at its widest point. The bottom of the vase has a diameter of 4 1/8". The very top lip has a diameter of 4 1/8" giving this Vase its balance with the height. The base glass is aquamarine in color. The Vase has a wonderful raised "Optic Ribbed Wave" Pattern in the glass. It is further decorated with an Oil Spot finish. The vase displays a very beautiful rainbow colored iridescence with Fuchsia tones throughout. It is accented with 6 blown out Ribs that resemble a gourd. It is very European in design. This is one of the prettiest Pastel Loetz Vases I have ever owned. The Pattern form and Color are exceptional. The top lip is rolled and fire polished like the American Contemporaries of the Day Tiffany Favrile, Quezal, and Steuben Aurene. The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The Vase does display a very nice counter sunk polished pontil. This is the sign of a quality piece of Art Glass. The Vase including the bottom shows some of the most beautiful Fuchsia Iridescent Coloring one can imagine. The Vase is very clean inside and shows minimal signs of use as you can see some scratches along the bottom edge. This is typical of it age and use. For sale is a lovely vase made by Loetz Klostermuehle of Bohemia which is now the modern day Czech Republic. The Pattern is called "Oceanik" and the form is a Tapered Shoulder Vase. The Vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 4 1/2" tall and has a diameter of 3 1/4" at its widest point. The bottom of the vase has a diameter of 1 7/8". The very top lip has a diameter of 1 7/8" giving this Vase its balance with the bottom. The base glass is aquamarine in color. The Vase has a wonderful raised relief "Wave" Pattern in the glass. It is further decorated with an Oil Spot finish. The vase displays a very beautiful rainbow colored iridescence with Fuchsia tones throughout. It is accented with 4 dimpled or thumbprint indentations at the shoulder part of the vase, with a short neck rising up from the indentations. It is very European in design. This is somewhat common for Loetz's pieces to have a thumbprint decororation but the form in this Decor is not so commonly found. The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The Vase does display a very nice flat polished top lip which is very common with European Art Glass. The Vase including the bottom shows some of the most beautiful Fuchsia Iridescent Coloring one can imagine. The Vase is very clean inside and shows virtually no signs of use. It appears to have been a Cabinet piece most if not all of its life. This vase is known as Oceanic (Wellenoptisch) Prod. Nr. 1259 in the Loetz Catalog. For sale is a Lovely piece of Art Glass made by The Durand Glass Company of Vineland, NJ. I have a very nice Vase done in Durand's Popular Orange Glow Lustre Line. The Vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 6 5/8" tall and is 4" in diameter at the bulbous bottom. The top has a diameter of 3 5/8" outside measurement. The Vase has a very beautiful subtle orange/gold Aurene, Favrile iridescence to it. There are wonderful strong Fuchsia Hues throughout the body of the Vase. The Vase has a very pleasing unique shape. I call this shape an Squat Bulbous Trumpet shape. It starts from the bottom with a round shallow raised foot. The vase then flares out and rolls back in like a Flower Bulb. This flows into a narrow cylindrical neck that rises up and flares out in the shape of a Trumpet. The bottom or foot on Art Glass Vases are usually applied and are considered 2 separate pieces. This one is not as it is actually formed from the body of the vessel and would be considered part of the Vase. The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings or scratches to the outside surface iridescence. There is a scratch on the side pictured and is considered insignificant. The Vase does display a counter sunk polished Pontil. This is the mark of a quality piece of Art Glass. The Vase is not signed as is the case with many Durand Art Glass pieces. They usually had a Paper Label like the one pictured. These fell off over time from cleaning. This Vase can be documented in the Book "Durand The Man and his Glass" by Edward J. Meschi. It is on page 166 bottom left and is model number 1730. I have shown a picture of this same shape but it is done in a Rarer King Tut Decorated Version. That form can be documented on page 46 far right middle row. Quezal also used this shape in their Catalogue line. When Quezal closed in 1924 and Martin Bach and a few Glass Blowers came down to set up the Fancy Goods Shop at Durand they brought with them all the molds and Inventory. Durand liquidated their stock and blew many of the same shapes using Durand Glass Formula's. Durand did not start making his Artistic Glass until December 1924. This is when Quezal Glass and Decorating Company went out of Business and Martin Bach Jr. and several of his workers migrated to South Jersey and set up shop at Durand. Durand blew glass in the Fancy Shop for only a short time as he was killed in an automobile accident in 1931. In 1932 The Durand Glass Company discontinued all of its Artistic Glass. Durand was a Contemporary to Tiffany Studios, Steuben, Quezal and several others in the 20's. Although they blew glass in a shorter period of time than any of these Glass Houses Durand made his mark on the Art Glass World. This is a quality piece of Art Glass that is considered much Rarer because there are by far fewer examples of Durand Gold Iridescence Glass than his Contemporaries, Tiffany, Loetz, Steuben and Quezal. For sale is a very lovely piece of Art Glass made by Tiffany Studios, New York. The item is called a "Footed Ribbed Flower Vase". It is done in Tiffany's highly sought after Gold Favrile Iridescent Glass. The Vase is a nice size as it stands 6 3/4" tall and has a diameter of approximately 5" at it widest point. The foot has a diameter of 4 1/4". The Vase displays a very nice Shape that somewhat resembles a Flower at the top opening. The Vase has nice vertical ribbing rising up from the short stem that rises just above the foot. This ribbing continues to the top where it works its way in around the neck then it flares out and comes back in and out again ever so gracefully. It has a strong Gold Iridescent finish with wonderful hues of Fuchsia and Purples. The foot has a beautiful Fuchsia hue to it. The Vase looks metallic yet it is glass. The bottom of the foot has some of the strongest Gold Favrile Iridescence I have ever seen on a Tiffany Favrile piece. It reminded me of Steuben's Brilliant Gold Aurene finish. The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There are very minor scratches on the underside outer edge iridescence. There are a few inclusions or carbon spots in the glass. This can only be seen when held up to the light. There is also one small circular spot on the exterior that the gold didn't take but it shows a beautiful rainbow color. These issues are common and considered Factory. I could only find a couple of teeny tiny scratches in the iridescence and they are not obtrusive. The Vase is properly signed in a counter clockwise fashion. It is the etched Script Signature mark which reads "1557 L.C. Tiffany-Favrile". This number denotes its model or shape number as is evident by the last picture I have up. It is a black and white copy of the form in Tiffany's catalog of shapes. Since there is no prefix or suffix letter this denotes this piece as extremely early in the Tiffany Favrile fancy goods line. Tiffany started using a Prefix and Suffix Letter and numbering system to date his pieces of Art Glass that he made in 1894. Since this does not have a letter I would say that this piece was made earlier like circa 1892-1893. This is a quality piece of Art glass made by Tiffany Studios, New York. The Gold Favrile, Aurene Iridescence is just outstanding!! This is a very nice example of this form and color. It is amazing that this Vase has survived over 119 years without getting any kind of damage. Those of you who collect the Gold Favrile, Aurene Forms will surely welcome this fine addition. I'm sure the Buyer will be very pleased with their purchase.   « Less

For sale is a lovely Art Glass Vase made by Loetz Klostermuehle of Bohemia which is now the modern day Czech Republic. The Pattern is called "Astartig" and the form is a Flower Vase. The Vase is a nice size as it stands 5 1/4" tall and has a diameter of 3 1/8" at its widest point. The bottom of the vase has a diameter of 2 1/8". The Vase displays a very beautiful Candia (Gold) Silberiris texture with random patterns pinched within the surface while the glass was still warm from the furnace and finished with a scalloped irregular top rim. The iridescence is just outstanding as you can see vivid colors of Gold, Platinum Blue and very strong Fuchsia. The Base Glass is Clear with a Gold Applied decoration. Astartig (branch) glass used a highly iridescent gold finish over Candia glass, usually free form pieces, with small protrusions pulled from the body of the glass. The Vase has a beautiful organic shape and appears to be a double gourd shape. The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The Opening at the top resemble a Flower Form Shape and is quite irregular. The bottom does display a counter sunk polished pontil. This is the mark of a quality piece of art Glass. The Vase is not signed but it is a very well documented Loetz Decor. The Vase is very clean outside and in as It shows minimal signs of use. This is a very nice vase that is not so commonly found. The decoration is brilliant and well defined. I'm quite sure the buyer will be very pleased with their purchase. For sale is a lovely Vase made by The Phoenix/Consolidated Glass of Monaca, PA. The Shape is a Tall tapered Shoulder Vase and the pattern is "Bittersweet". The Vase measures 9 9/16" tall and is approximately 5" wide at the shoulders. The opening of the Vase measures 3 1/2" wide and 3 1/4" at the base. The Vase depicts Clusters of Peach or Salmon colored berries or fruits hanging on Light Jade green leaves growing from a woody vine. These are set against a chalky milk white background and is a lovely 3 color vase. This raised relief decoration surrounds the entire vase. The colors are strong and vivid and the mold is crisp. The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The top lip is polished, smooth and has a small bevelled edge which means it has not been ground from any chips. Usually this area has a few flea nicks and I am happy to report that this has none!! The Vase is not signed as these typically had Paper or Foil Labels. These simply fell off over the course of time. This is a quality piece of American Art Glass. I'm sure the lucky buyer will be delighted with their purchase. This piece would fit well with a Winery Collection or someone decorating in an Italian or Greek Motif. This piece was made Circa 1926-1932. Consolidated Lamp & Glass Company was located in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. Phoenix Glass Company is located in Monaca, Pennsylvania. Phoenix began production of art glass in 1932 when 45-50 molds from the Consolidated Glass Company were moved to Phoenix and used until early 1936. This occurred because Consolidated Glass Company had been forced to shut down because of the Great Depression. They were both influenced by Lalique Glass from France.   « Less

For sale is a Lovely piece of Art Glass made by the Consolidated Lamp and Glass Company of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. The shape is a Vase and the color is Amethyst. The Vase measures 5 5/8" tall and is 6 3/8" wide at the mouth. The base of this lovely Vase is 2 3/4" in diameter. The pattern of this vase is known as Catalonian and was advertised as "Glass of Old Spain". It has a light Amethyst color that is accented with air bubbles varied in size throughout the entire body of the piece. There is a light frost to the vase with horizontal rings that vary in size and spacing. The vase has an Art Deco appeal and you can see the influence of Lalique Glass in this and many other early pieces produced by this company. This particular line was created by Reuben Haley who was known as one of the best glass designers in the country. He was not only a glass master but also a sculptor and metal worker. He would mold his design from clay first and then produce it in glass and was the creator of the Ruba Rombic and Martele Line as well. The Muncie Pottery Company is also known for its' Ruba Rombic line which was also designed by Reuben Haley. The Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The Vase is unsigned but guaranteed to be Vintage Consolidated Glass. There is the typical rough pontil scar where it was broken away from the pipe and you can see that this was blown into a three piece mold from the mold lines. For Sale is a large Frosted on Crystal Dogwood Vase made in Czechoslovakia. I am not sure of the manufacturer as I have yet to find this in my research although I am certain that this vessel predates Phoenix Consolidated's version of this Dogwood vase. The Vase is very large as it measures 10 1/2" tall and is approximately 6 1/2" wide at the bulge. The opening measures 3 3/4" wide at the outer lip and has a 2 3/4" opening for a nice bouquet of flowers. The Vase depicts very detailed Dogwood flowers in full bloom amongst stems and leaves for an all over effect. They are done in raised relief and the mold is very crisp as you can see the pistils and stamens detail as well as some veining in the flower petals. I have compared this Vase to Phoenix Consolidated's version and the pattern is the same however the rim is different. This Vase has a nice heavy neck and Phoenix's mold on their neck is a little bit different. There is no roughness on the inner or outer edge of this rim which is commonly found on the Phoenix/Consolidated versions. Phoenix/Consolidated Glass Company introduced their Dogwood Pattern Vase in 1926. It was part of their very popular "Martele" line. They had several variations in color they called "patina" or "wash". I actually thought this was a piece of Phoenix when I purchased it. Recently I had a European buyer at my booth at a show and she informed me that this vase was actually "Czech" Much to my surprise she showed me the signature on the bottom which is rather hard to read. The signature reads "MADE IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA" in raised relief block letters. I firmly believe that Phoenix/ Consolidated Glass actually copied this Dogwood Pattern. You can find many examples of the Phoenix/Consolidated Vases but you never see the Czech Vases. I was told that these are hard to find!! The Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no nicks, chips, cracks or dings. This a quality piece of European vintage glass that I'm sure the lucky buyer will be thrilled to own this. This Vase was made, Circa 1918-1925.   « Less
