For sale is a very hard to find piece of Art Glass made by The Steuben Glass Company of Corning, New York. The item is more commonly known as a Gold Aurene "Salt". This Beautiful salt is a nice petite size as it stands 1 1/8" Tall and has a diameter of 1 7/8". The Vase displays a very strong Gold Aurene Favrile Iridescence that only Steuben is known for. The Salt has a very pleasing shape and it reminds me of a witches Caldron. It has a bulbous bottom with a raised flared lip. It has a Brilliant Gold Mirrored Metallic appearance, yet it is Glass. This was Frederick Carder at his best. The iridescence is just brilliant as you can see very strong hues of Fuchsia when looking inside. The top lip has a platinum blue hue to it. The Salt is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, or dings. The only issues to report are minor. There is an area on the exterior surface with a tiny scratch and there is spotting in the fuming on the underside. This cannot be seen when displayed. It can only be seen when turned upside down. This is pictured as well. The Vase is not signed on the bottom and more than likely has a Paper Label at one time. This Steuben Salt is probably the Rarest of the Salt Forms that Steuben produced. You commonly see the footed ones. You hardly ever see these little beauties. This is shape number "2662" in the Steuben Catalog. This is a quality piece of Art glass and will enhance any Art Glass Collection. Those of you who collect Aurene Salts or Salts in general want a rare example don't let this pass you by. For Auction is a wonderful piece of Art Glass blown by The Steuben Glass Company of Corning, New York. The item is an Optic Ribbed Fan Vase. The Vase has a nice wide opening to receive several flowers at one time. The Vase is blown in Frederick Carder's very desirable Pomona Green and Topaz Art Glass. The Vase is a nice size as it stands 8 1/4" tall and is 7" wide and 1 1/16" deep. The foot has a diameter of 3 13/16". The Vase displays a very beautiful Green Optic Ribbed Pattern in a Fan Shape that is superb! The Fan Vase is attached to a round Topaz or Amber colored foot. It starts round at the bottom and has 3 round applied knuckles meeting the Green Fan Vase above. These 2 pieces of glass are fused together forming one piece. This piece is actually made in three stages. The first is the round foot is blown. Then the amber knuckle stem is applied and fused to the foot. The last piece the Fan vase is attached to the stem forming one piece. These were difficult pieces to blow and shows Frederick Carder ability to mix colors together and have them be compatible without breaking. The Vase is considered to be in very good to excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There are some minor scratches along the underside bottom and is consistent with age wear. There is also an inclusion on the inside middle of the Pontil and it is a strand of Glass that is very thin. This can be felt when touched. The Vase has a countersunk Polished Pontil. The sign of quality Art Glass. The piece is Signed with Steuben's Acid Etched Stamped "Fleur de Lis" Mark with "Steuben" inside the Polished Pontil. You can see remnants of the Pontil Scar underneath the signature. This a very nice example and I'm quite sure the buyer will be quite pleased with their purchase. This is known as shape number 6287 in the Steuben Catalog pages. Steuben made this vase in 3 sizes. This is the middle size as it is 7" across the top. There was a smaller 5" and a larger 9" also made at Steuben. This piece was made during the Frederick Carder Years, Circa 1915-1932.   « Less

For sale is a very nice piece of Art Glass made by The Steuben Glass Company of Corning, New York. The item is more commonly known as a Gold Aurene "Stick" or "Bud" Vase. This Beautiful Vase Stands 8" Tall and the top of the stick has a diameter of 5/8" outside measurement. The Round Foot has a diameter of 2 3/4". The Vase displays a very strong Gold Aurene Favrile Iridescence that only Steuben is known for. It has a Brilliant Gold Mirrored Metallic appearance, yet it is Glass. This was Frederick Carder at his best. The Round Hollow Tall Cylindrical Stick Form is mounted to a Round Platform or Foot. They are fused together to appear as only one piece was blown yet it is actually a two part Vase. The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, or dings. The only issues to report are minor. There is an area on the surface of foot that has a few spots of iridescence loss. It appears to be factory but I am not totally sure. I have shown a picture of this. This other is Factory as the top Rim shows a teeny nick. This happened in the Cutting Department at the time of Manufacturing. The tops of these vases should Not be Polished and smooth. This is not how Steuben made these. The tops should be rough cut and show these type flea bites. The ones that have been Polished Smooth are done after market. My camera is 10X and it appears much larger than it really is. The flea nick on the rim is not even the size of a pencil tip. There is a few minor scratches in the iridescence but nothing too obtrusive. The Vase is signed on the bottom with the Engraved mark "Aurene" along with the shape number "2556" in the Steuben Catalog. This is a quality piece of Art glass and will enhance any Art Glass Collection. Those of you who collect Aurene Stick Vases and want a nice example don't let this pass you by. The Vase doesn't sit at an angle, it is just the Photographer. For sale is a Fabulous Art Glass Centerpiece Bowl made by The Steuben Glass Company of Corning, New York. I have a large Calcite with Gold Aurene Interior Centerpiece Bowl. The Bowl measures 9 13/16" in Diameter and is 3 5/8" tall. The Bowl is just wonderful as the Interior Displays that Brilliant Gold Aurene that Steuben was famous for. You can see wonderful Fuchsia's with Blue and Gold Hues. The Onion Skin outer border is a real pleaser with Steuben Collectors. When you hold the bowl to the light at an angle the order lights ups with an Electric Fuchsia Hue that is outstanding!! The exterior White Calcite Background is subtle and will appeal to most decors. The Bowl has a large round foot that is made from the body of the bowl forming only one 1 piece instead of two. This is one of the larger bowls that were made at Steuben. I firmly believe they never displayed anything inside as the inside shows no scratches at all. I hate to use the word Mint Iridescence, but that is exactly what this bowl has. The Bowl is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The only issues to report is some Gold Aurene got on the underside calcite on one side of the bowl. I have taken a picture of this and I feel it adds some charm to this piece. This also cannot be seen when displayed. This bowl was very loved as I cannot find any scratches in the Calcite side as well. It is unsigned, but unconditionally guaranteed to be authentic Steuben. More than likely it had a Triangular Steuben Foil Label at one time. This simply came off at some point when it was washed. The Bowl does display the countersunk Polished Pontil. The sign of Quality Art Glass. I have always felt that Frederick Carder's Gold Aurene was much more Brilliant than L.C.T. Tiffany Favrile Glass. In fact Tiffany tried to sue Steuben for Stealing their Gold Favrile Formula in 1913. When the court proceedings Started Frederick Carter Agreed to lay down his Formula next to Tiffany's. Tiffany refused to show his and withdrew the law suit. Those of you whom Collect Steuben Gold Aurene Calcite Glass will surely welcome this wonderful piece into their Collection. I'm sure the lucky buyer will be happy for many years with this purchase. This bowl was made, Circa 1910-1920.   « Less

For sale is a Lovely piece of Art Glass made by The Steuben Glass Company of Corning, New York. The Item is a Hand Blown "Optic Ribbed Stemmed Sherbet" and it is done in the "Celeste Blue with Transparent" Glass. The Sherbet is a nice size as it stands 4 5/8" tall and is 3 13/16" in diameter. The foot has a diameter of 2 11/16". The Stemmed Sherbet displays a wonderful optic Vertical ribbing. It has a Celeste Blue Cup and Foot with a Clear or transparent Glass Stem. The top lip is fire polished and rolled. The Goblet is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There are a few minor scratches on the bottom of the foot but the Interior of the Glass shows virtually no signs of wear. The Glass is somewhat light in weight. This Sherbet is not signed but this is the 3rd one from a set of 7 that I recently purchased. The other 2 were signed with Steuben's "Fleur de Lis" acid etched mark. This Sherbet also displays a counter sunk polished Pontil on the bottom, the sign of a Quality Hand Blown piece of Art Glass. This is shape number 2680 in the Steuben Achieves of shapes. At the turn of the Century LCT Tiffany Studio's Favrile line was their main competitor and their fared equally as well creating some of the nicest Art Glass pieces the World has ever seen. For sale is a wonderful piece of Art Glass blown by The Steuben Glass Company of Corning, New York. The item is a large Optic Swirl Flower Vase. The Vase has a larger than normal size opening and is just splendid. The Vase is blown in Frederick Carder's very desirable French Blue Art Glass. The Vase is a nice large size as it stands 6 7/8" tall and is 6 7/8" in diameter. The Vase displays a very beautiful Crystal French Blue Color that is superb! The Vase has a nice wide cylindrical shape with a flaring top edge. It starts round at the bottom and spirals counter clockwise towards the top and gracefully flairs out at the top. The Swirl is ribbed and it starts at the top in high relief and works it way all the way down to the bottom disappearing into the round foot. The Foot is made from the same piece of glass and is not an applied foot. The Vase is considered to be in very good to excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There are some minor scratches along the bottom quarter exterior of the vase and is consistent with age wear. There is also an inclusion on the inside middle of the vase and can be felt when touched. This is a trapped piece of sand that did not liquidly in the making. The Vase has a countersunk Polished Pontil. The sign of quality Art Glass. The piece is Signed with Steuben's Acid Etched Stamped "Fleur de Lis" Mark with "Steuben" inside. Those of you who collect Colored Steuben and wants a very nice example will be pleased with their purchase. This is known as shape number 6030 in the Steuben Catalog pages. The Item is a Hand Blown "Sherbet and Under Plate" and it is done in the Verre de Soie Style of Art Glass. This was Frederick Carder's Favorite Glass. "Verre de Soie" literally means "Glass of Silk". The plate measures 5 1/2" in diameter and is 13/16" tall. The Sherbet stands 4" tall and the Sherbet opening is also 4" in diameter outside measurements. The Sherbet and Under Plate stands 4 1/4" tall when placed together. The Sherbet and Plate depicts a Milky Translucent White Glass throughout. Both pieces have a wonderful iridescence sheen to it. You can see beautiful hues of Fuchsia, Purples and Blues. When you rub this piece of glass across your face it has a very silky feel to it, thus the name "Verre de Soie" Glass of Silk. The Sherbet and Under Plate is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There are a few minor scratches on the bottom of the under plate but the Sherbet shows virtually no sign of wear. This Sherbet and under plate is unsigned as this Style "Verre de Soie" usually carried a paper label. The piece does display a Pontil mark on the Sherbet and you can see a Pontil scar beneath. The plate has no Pontil Scar on the bottom and is flat to the touch. The counter Sunk Pontil is the sign of Quality Hand Blown Art Glass. I believe this to be shape number 2680 in the Steuben Catalog of shapes. Steuben Aurene Glass is some the Highest Quality Glass you can own. At the turn of the Century LCT Tiffany Studio's Favrile line was their main competitor and their fared equally as well creating some of the nicest Art Glass Vases the World has ever seen. Steuben Sherbets and Under Plates are somewhat hard to find. You commonly find the Calcite ones but not the Verre de Soie ones. These items were used and most of them did not make it through. For sale is a wonderful piece of Art Glass made by The Steuben Glass Company of Corning, New York. The Item is a Hand Blown "Reeded Bowl" and it is done in the Verre de Soie Style of Glass. This was Frederick Carder's Favorite Glass he formulated. Verre de Soie literally means "Glass of Silk". When you run the exterior of the Bowl across your face it really feels like Silk!! The Bowl is a nice size as it stands 3 5/8" tall and is 8 1/4" in diameter. The foot has a diameter of 3" The Body of the Bowl displays a Milky White Iridescence with a Quilted Background Pattern on the inside as you can feel the raised relief. This Bowl sits on a round foot that is actually blown right into the bottom and not attached. The exterior top edge of the Bowl has wonderful Gold Ruby Reeding. This starts at the very outer lip and works its way down about 1/3 of the way. The Gold Ruby Reeding has an almost soft Pinky/Red hue. The Bowl is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The Reeding is also in excellent condition as there isn't even a nick to one of the Reeds. This Bowl appears to have been well taken care of during its life. This Bowl is unsigned as this Style of Glass "Verre de Soie" usually carried a paper label. The Bowl does display a counter sunk Polished Pontil. This is the sign of Quality Hand Blown Art Glass. Steuben Art Glass is some the Highest Quality Glass you can own. At the turn of the Century LCT Tiffany Studio's Favrile line was their main competitor and Steuben fared equally as well. Steuben created some of the nicest Art Glass Vases the World has ever seen. This is Design # 2851 in the definitive Steuben reference, Paul Gardner's, The Glass of Frederick Carder, page. 142. The item is the very desirable Ruffled Flower Form Vase and it is done in Frederick Carder's most desirable Blue Aurene Glass. The Vase is a cabinet size as it stands 5" tall and is 5 1/16" in diameter. The Vase has that classic ruffled flower form shape with 6 ruffles. It displays an outstanding Blue Iridescence that Rivaled L.C. Tiffany's Favrile Style of Art Glass. The Blue Aurene iridescence is outstanding as you can see vivid hues of Blues, Purples and Golds accented with some Fuchsia. The soft but Brilliant Blue Sheen is soft to the touch and eye candy to the eyes. The inside of the piece has a nice Blue Iridescence where you can see gold over tones. The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The only issue is a small scratch in the exterior iridescence and this is pictured and considered insignificant. The Vase is signed on the bottom with the engraved "Aurene" Signature mark along with its shape number "723". This shape is commonly found in Gold but Blue has always been harder to find and commands a stronger value. This shape only appears a few times each year as it seems the collectors really hang on to these beauties. or Sale is a beautiful Art Glass Bowl made by The Steuben Glass Company of Corning, New York. I have a hand blown "Squat Bowl" in a Cyprian color. It is done in the Verre de Soie Aquamarine Style of Art Glass with a Celeste blue glass top border. This was Frederick Carder's Favorite Glass. "Verre de Soie" literally means "Glass of Silk". This Bowl is a nice cabinet size as it measures 2 7/8" tall and the top opening has a diameter of 4 3/8" inside measurement. The Bowl has an overall diameter of 6" with the foot having a diameter of 3". The Vase depicts a Milky Translucent White Iridescent Glass throughout with a tinge of green at the bottom. The Vase is further decorated with a beautiful soft Celeste Blue border. This blue layer is applied to the exterior of the glass. The iridescence is just wonderful as you can see beautiful hues of Fuchsia, Purples and Blues. When you rub this piece of glass across your face it has a very silky feel to it, thus the name "Verre de Soie" Glass of Silk. The Bowl when held at an angle has a green hue to it in the bottom and might be actually classified as Aquamarine which is in the Verre de Soie Family. The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The Blue top border is perfect. There are very minor scratches on the underside bottom exterior edge. The Vase is very clean inside and shows no signs of calcium deposits. There is an inclusion of a colored thread within the bottom of the Bowl pictured. The vase displays a counter sunk polished pontil, the sign of a Quality hand made piece of Art Glass. The vase is unsigned as is the case with the "Cyprian" style of Art Glass. This style usually carried a paper label. This is shape number 2687 in the Steuben Catalog of shapes.
