An impressive and rare Caughley junket or salad bowl decorated in the Caughley version of the Pinecone pattern. In excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. Marked with the Caughley crescent. Measures 25.5 cms x 7.5 cms high.
The last photograph shows the Worcester and Caughley versions together. You will notice the slightly heavier potting of the Caughley one and the shading of the fruits is also less. The loop border is heavier in style than than Worcester. The glaze is slightly more whiter. There are many other small differences but the comparison is interesting. We are offering both bowls on our website.

For sale is a wonderful Arts and Crafts piece of Art Pottery made by Hampshire Pottery of Keene, New Hampshire. The piece is called a "Lotus" Bowl and it is done in Hampshire's most Popular Matte Cucumber Green Glaze. The Bowl has some size to it as it is 10" in diameter and it stands 2 7/8" tall.
This Bowl displays a wonderful Arts and Crafts Pattern of Embossed Water Lily Pods rising between two Lily Pads. There are 6 of these surrounding the Bowl. The Bowl has a very nicely mottled matte cucumber green glaze that Hampshire Pottery was most famous for. This Deep Matte Cucumber Green Glaze Rivaled any Matte Green Glaze produced by Grueby Faience of Boston, Mass.
The bowl is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There is the usual waterproofing glaze firing lines on the bottom in 3 or 4 places. This is common on many Hampshire Pottery pieces. It is signed on the bottom side with the Incised "Hampshire Pottery" Script signature along with its shape number 57 and the M in a circle mark. Hampshire Pottery pieces with the M in a Circle puts that dating between 1904-1914. These were the years that he ran the Pottery and that mark was used to honor his Wife "Emoretta". She was the daughter of the founder, James Scollay Taft.
Hampshire started producing Matte Glazes in 1891. This was 7 years earlier than their main Competitor Grueby Faience of Boston, Mass. Hampshire Pottery resembles the style of Grueby but were much more affordable as they were mold made pieces as opposed to hand thrown. This will make a wonderful addition to any matte Pottery collection of Art Pottery and would look great on that Stickley Mission Arts and Crafts Bookcase.

For sale is a wonderful piece of Art Pottery made by The Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, NJ. The item is an Arts & Crafts Raised Footed bowl. The Bowl is a nice size as it stands 3 1/4" tall and is approximately 7 1/4" in diameter.
The Bowl is done in one of Fulper Pottery's most beautiful and sought after glaze combinations called "Copper Dust". The Bowl Sits on top of 4 Raised Feet that resemble the feet of period furniture. This piece is definitely all about the glaze!! The Copper Dust Crystals are plentiful and brilliant!!. The inside lip of the bowl has the dark flambe rim that these copper dust crystals bleed down from and cover the entire inside of the bowl. The outside of the bowl is done is the same fashion.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There is a glaze burst on the outside rim and an inclusion on the outside underlip that is glazed over in the dark flambe glaze. The Vase is marked on the underside bottom with Fulper's Racetrack Ink Stamp Signature mark. This would date this Vase to be made Circa 1922-1928.
This form was rarely made in this glaze and you Copper Dust Glaze Collectors don't let this one slip by. This is known as shape number 447 in the Fulper Pottery Catalog and is described as a "Footed Bowl" available in 2 sizes. The largest was 9 1/4" in diameter and the other being 7" in diameter.
This is a wonderful example of this Form and Glaze from Fulper. The estate this came from was loaded with Gustav Stickley Furniture. I'm sure the Buyer will not be disappointed with their purchase. This would look outstanding on that Stickley, Mission, Arts and Crafts style Bookcase.
This Glaze was extremely hard to photograph. The reflective glare from the crystals made it difficult to capture the true brilliance of this piece. The Bowl is much better in person than my camera could show!!

For sale is a wonderful Arts and Crafts piece of Art Pottery made by The Marblehead Pottery Company of Marblehead, Massachusetts. The Shape is the very desirable Mission Shaped Raised Centerpiece bowl or Planter. The Bowl is kind of large as it stands 3" tall and is 9" in diameter.
The Bowl or Planter is covered in a Smooth Speckled Indigo Glaze. This is also known as the infamous "Marblehead Blue Glaze". This is such a pleasing Matt Blue Glaze and I can see why it was so popular during the day. The Inside displays a lighter Matt Robins Eggs Blue Waterproofing Glaze. The two tones of Blue look outstanding together.
The Bowl is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There are a few pin indent areas on the outside of the Bowl in the glaze. This is considered Factory as it was made this way. When you hold this Bowl in your hands you can immediately feel Quality. It has good weight and feels solid. You can also feel this is handmade. When you run your fingers on the inside of the bowl you can feel grooves on the inside walls. This is the tell tale sign of a hand thrown piece. The Bowl is signed on the bottom with the Impressed Ship Logo along with the Initials "M" and "P" on each side of the sails for "Marblehead Pottery".
This is a very nice example of this form and Glaze. This is a very hard to find form in the Bowl Shapes. I have only seen a handful of these in my 38+ years as a Collector/Dealer. I am quite sure the buyer will be quite happy with their purchase. It will look just wonderful for those decorating in the Arts and Crafts, Mission Style Decor. It would look outstanding on a Stickley Furniture Bookcase or Dining Room Table.
Marblehead Pottery was established in 1904 by Dr. Herbert J. Hall as a Studio Art Pottery in Marblehead, Massachusetts using the art and technique of ceramics manufacturing and decorating as a rehabilitation and therapeutic aid to local sanitarium patients at Hall's Devereux Mansion Sanitarium. Marblehead Pottery stopped producing Art Pottery in 1936. Marblehead Pottery was a small Pottery Company never employing more than 6 workers. Their Pottery is considered somewhat scare as compared to their Contemporaries of the day. The collectors that have collected their pieces rarely let them go. « Less
