Dated 1933, this large (64 x 46 inches, approx) poster was created by Edouard Courchinoux, who also had a printing company which produced the poster (convenient, that!). The idea was that although it was cold and snowy outside, inside you could enjoy the feeling of full-on summer because the heady sweetness of cherries, picked at their prime was captured by L''Ideal - the ideal way to preserve fruit. The colors pop, the poster is in pristine condition and we think this piece would look fab in a country home, a restaurant, a cannery (think of that!) or any place where food is served, eaten or even thought of... Please note that all of our posters, prints, pochoirs and ephemera are vintage, non-reproduction, period pieces. Please e-mail with any questions or requests for additional photos. Thank you. We are happy to ship worldwide -after completion of sale we will calculate surface, air and courrier options and buyer can choose the option which suits them best. (Price listed for international shipping is for least expensive - surface - method. Quicker shipping methods will be calculated upon completed sale). Biais, Maurice 47 x 21,5 I think it is always interesting to do research about the artists who produce the pieces that I sell - that way I, and the people who ultimately buy the pieces, can understand a little bit about who produced the artwork and the world in which the artist lived. This wonderful original lithograph, from roughly 1900, was created by Maurice Biais, the husband of Jane Avril, a Moulin Rouge performer often featured by Toulouse Lautrec. In a New York Times article written about a Biais exhibit in New York in Ê1901 it was said: "Maurice Biais follows in the footsteps of Cheret ... at times he suggests the London prodigy, Aubrey Beardsley, and again he will make .... one to recall some of the caricaturists for Munich "Jugend". #1049   « Less

I just bought this poster in France, and I think part of the reason was that I was captivated by the colors and the way the image is laid out ... in mirroring the typical Persian/Middle Eastern (particularly Turkish) miniatures, the artist Peske, has created a masterpiece. Done in 1923 for a (comic) opera called Le Hulla, Peske uses subdued colors rather than the bright tones which were seen everywhere in Paris during the early Art Deco period. The full title of this opera is actually Le Hulla de Samarkand - referencing Sarmarkand, the (now Uzbekistani) city of the Silk Road. Wikipedia (my fav source!) tells us that ''Samarkand is one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world, prospering from its location on the trade route between China and the Mediterranean (Silk Road). At times Samarkand has been one of the greatest cities of Central Asia.'' As for the opera, it was often sung by Auguste Charles Paul Friant, a tenor of whom it was written '' ...it is with the greatest purity of vocalism that he sings his role... he interprets the music ... with the greatest ardor, never seeking the [easy] effect. Measuring 47 x 31 inches, in excellent A condition, mounted on linen, this poster is lovely. We will be happy to send additional photographs or information should you desire same. A poster, measuring approx. 53 x 38 inches, of a wonderful sailing ship, seemingly under full sail, perhaps accompanied by a pontooned airplane escort on a seemingly calm sea. Given our fairly limited understanding of Italian, we fail to understand what the ship has to do with the product being advertised - a table cream - but who are we to question the artistic integrity of the turn of the century Italians. Printed by the famed Baroni printing house in 1918, the poster is in very good condition and mounted on linen. Purchased in Milan. Please note that all of our posters, prints, pochoirs and ephemera are original, non- reproduction, vintage works of art. Produced for an Italian coffee manufacturer called Foschi, this poster is a wonderful and colorful tribute to the power of advertising. Foschi is a company originally based in Casena, in the Romagna province of Italy. In 1929 the company moved to Pesaro where it has - ever since - operated as a family business. We will assume that the Foschi''s imported coffee from far and wide and that this poster was used to advertise that fact. Measuring 37 x 55 inches, it features a smiling child with a basket not of beans but of a coffee cup full of the family''s best brew ... The colors of this poster pop and we feel it will look wonderful framed. The poster measures 37 x 55 inches and is in very good condition (very slight wear on the edges). All of our posters, prints and pochoirs are authentic, vintage items. Please see our other items for sale - check back often we add things almost every day! Call us twisted - and you wouldnt be the first! - but an alcohol advertised as the choice of the athlete makes us giggle. (Bonal aperitif is an alcoholic drink made from wild gentiane found in the Chartreuse mountains). We love the depth of color, the texture and oomph of this poster - powerful and very, very Art Deco. Art Deco was a popular international art design movement from 1925 until the 1940s, affecting the decorative arts such as architecture, interior design and industrial design, as well as the visual arts such as fashion, painting, the graphic arts and film. At the time, this style was seen as elegant, glamorous, functional and modern. The movement was a mixture of many different styles and movements of the early 20th century, including Neoclassical, Constructivism, Cubism,Modernism, Art Nouveau, and Futurism. Its popularity peaked in Europe during the Roaring Twenties and continued strongly in the United States through the 1930s. Although many design movements have political or philosophical roots or intentions, Art Deco was purely decorative. (wikipedia) Charles Lemmel produced a variety of posters for Bonal, each featuring smiling and virile athletes. Measuring 23.5 x 31 inches, this poster is linen lined and in very good condition ... The colors of this poster pop and we feel it will look wonderful framed. All of our posters, prints and pochoirs are authentic, vintage items.
