Wonderful, original, vintage, this lithographic print is from a collection called Art and Artists of our time, which was published in 1888 and which claimed to feature the best of the best. Nicely detailed, this print shows the proverbial ''farmers daughter'' feeding the chickens with grain held in the pouch of her apron. Print measures 3.5 x 5.5 and framed measures roughly 10 x 11 inches. Would enhance any setting. Purchased in Europe, this charming and colorful advertisement was most likely printed in the late 1920''s - early 1930s. It is very much like a Cappiello print of the same design and could have been produced either by Cappielo or a talented copyist - as it is unsigned, we are selling it as is: a lovely and colorful production piece for Chocolat Klaus, with offices in Le Locle (Switzerland) and Morteau (france). It offered a selection of treats (bouchees). The wonderful use of flowers in the top left and right corners indicates that this piece was probably produced at the very beginning of the Deco period when Art Nouveau influences could still be seen in advertising and artworks. Ready to be shipped, it is in very good condition (some previous folds are evident) and mounted on linen. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL, NOT A REPRODUCTION. The size of the maquette is 12 x 9 inches. Riquet Tee- Kraftig Aromatisch Ludwig Hohlwein Hohlwein was the most prolific and brilliant German posterist of the 20th Century...Beginning with his efforts, Hohlwein found his style with disconcerting facility. From a book published in Berlin in 1914, this piece was (we believe) designed to promote a company''s marketing and press relations/monitoring skills (we are guessing as we don''t speak German, but that seems to be the gist of the message). Text reads: Vornehmstes Institut, Mit Ersten Referenzen - Ausfchnitte aus in und auslandischen Fachund tages-zeitungen uber Jedes Gebiet - Dringend erforderlich fur alle Reklameverbraucher. Signed by Amar - a pre WWII German Jewish artist who worked with Julius Klinger and others, and of whom very little is known.
