Victorian, circa 1880 Pair glass fairy lamps with Nailsea-type fairy size domes in blue with white loopings. Domes rest in pegged Cricklite embossed lamp cups, inserted into gold fitting on top of a glass standard. Maker''s mark ''CLARKES PATENT TRADEMARK CRICKLITE'' to base of cups. Fairy lamps originated in England in the 1840''s and are candle burning night lights that would have been used in nurseries, hallways, and dimly lit corners of the home. Generally good. No restoration. Fairy 1: Dome: Minor nibbles around the top rim. Standard: Slight wear to the base. Fairy 2: Dome: Two small, shallow chips inside the base rim. Minor nibbles around the top rim. Cup: Two shallow chips to the exterior. Standard: Some wear to the base. Fitting is slightly loose. 14.25ins high   « Less

The cup and dome sit in a matching rounded base with an inwardly crimped rim. Fairy lamps originated in England in the 1840''s and are candle burning night lights that would have been used in nurseries, hallways, and dimly lit corners of the home. Two hanging holes to the foot. Three stilt marks and impressed maker''s mark ''JOSE A. CUNHA CALDAS RAINHA PORTUGAL'' all inside the ochre foot. Good. No hairlines. No chips. Some flakes around the rim and under rim. Two small flakes to moth wing, and some flaking to the mossy ground. Kiln effects: some kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the moth''s wings, beetle''s front legs and toad''s mouth. Repaired shrinkage crack to the snake''s tail. 9.5ins diameter   « Less

Three stilt marks inside the foot along with maker''s marks impressed ''M.MAFRA CALDAS PORTUGAL'' and ''6''. Good. No cracks. No hairlines. Three chips to the foot (probably during firing) and a further three shallow chips associated with stilt marks. Some flaking to the moss. Kiln effect: shrinkage crack to tail of one lizard. Repair to neck of the smaller lizard. Restoration to one beetle leg, and one other leg rebuilt. Small restored chip to tail tip of the largest lizard. 9.25ins diameter   « Less
