Rare Antique, late 18th - early 19th century, South East Asia Siam- Thailand, early Rattanakosin period, unusual, Silver mounted Thai dagger Daab, Dha, Dah. DETAILS: The hilt is finely and whimsically carved in classical Siamese motifs of elaborate scrolling vines, encased by an embossed silver collar and long silver ferrule, decorated with two bands of roped silver wire, with an extremely sharp, sturdy, tapering single-edged blade. In its original wood-lined, oval, silver scabbard, decorated en suite with bands of roped silver wire, with copper chape on the bottom end of the scabbard to show the rank of the official wearing it, and most likely was owned by a ranked Thai mandarin of the late18th century. CONDITION: Showing the age and usage, silver scabbard dented with slight opening on the join. MEASUREMENTS: The Overall length with the scabbard is: 34 cm (13 3/8 in). Antique Bhutanese short sword, Bhutan 18th -19th century with broad single-edged, hand forged steel blade cut with a slender fuller along the back-edge. Hilt of characteristic form including wooden grip, iron pommel an oval cooler and knuckle guard with pearled brass edging. In its original leather-bound wooden scabbard stitched with large brass chape and locket, embossed with foliage. Bhutanese swords are often found in southern and eastern Tibet and while there are some important shared features, they are nevertheless distinct in form and style from Tibetan swords. CONDITION: Age and usage is showing, in good condition considering its age. MEASUREMENTS: Overall length of the sword sheathed in the scabbard: 57 cm (22 3/8 in), the Overall length without the scabbard: 56cm (22 in). Rare Antique 18th century (1725-1763) Saxon – Polish State Ceremonial Partisan of an Officer of the Saxon "Hundred Swiss Guards of Augustus II and the III, kings of Poland and, electors of Saxony. DETAILS: Entirely made of cast steel, (tapped by the fingernails make a very nice sound characteristic of high quality carbonated steel), shaped as a crowned double-headed eagle with waved tapering double-edged blade with its integral tapering octagonal socket. These types of the Saxon Swiss Guards Partisan were manufactured with slightly differences, like: 1. With the waved blade and straight tapering blade. 2. Diverse shape of the wings and the feathers on the eagle. 3. Different shape of eagle's beak, some with tongue, some with out tongue. 4. With round and octagonal sockets as on partisan in Deutsches Historisches Museum. 5. Diversity in Crowns on the eagle heads, some are pierced with open work others are not. 6. With gild eagle and unguided version 7. On some partisans the eagle has legs and on others, with out legs as on the example from Polish state collection of Wawel Royal Castle, Cracow, published in the book Land of the Winged Horsemen: Art m Poland 1572-1764. Page: 141. No 21. And also on the example in the catalog of Galerie Fisher in Switzerland 30, Jun 1990. Plate 5. No. 8493. This diversity leads to the conclusion that they were made, not only by the different makers, but possibly in different years during the period 1730 -1757. Saxon Swiss Guard was in existence from 1730 until 1757 and again from 1763 to 1814 Due to the rarity of the object and limited reference sources on this subject we could find only this, but it is possible that there were others made of this model partisan with other minor diversities. MEASUREMENTS: Overall length: 43.2 cm (17 in). WEIGHT: 1.065 kg = 2.3479231 lb. Authentic antique over 100 years old European sword Rapier most likely of the French origin with tapering two –stage steel blade ,the upper portion of flattened – hexagonal section engraved illegibly on the edge of ricasso with brief inscription ,with a short fuller on the respective sides flanked by two full length slender fullers. Steel hilt comprising cup – guard pierced with a series of slots a pair of straight long quillons swelling towards the notched terminals matching the knuckle –guard urn shaped pommel, and grip finely bound with plaited steel wire with a steel collar top and bottom. Rare authentic antique, half of the 17th-century, Russian enameled bronze, priming flask for a flintlock or wheel lock gun. The shape and the form of decoration are very distinctive for the 17th century work of the Kremlin armory. Those types of bronze priming flasks were cast in two pieces then joined together on the edges. This particular piece was excavated in the 19th century, on the former territory of eastern Poland, in broken condition. The broken part has been removed and the good part was mounted in the display case. The object has been taken, by the owner, out of Poland in 1939 during WWII. He served in the Polish Army II Corps. After the war he settled in Canada. Small Priming flasks contained fine-grain powder for priming the pans of wheel-lock firearms. The main charge of coarse gunpowder, placed in the barrel with the shot, was carried in the large powder flask. Flasks were attached to a bandolier, a type of sling worn over the shoulder or around the waist, from which hung the various accessories required for a weapon, including spanners for the mechanism, measured charges, powder flasks, and priming flasks.
