Another rarely seen beer advertisement! This neon sign is for Arf & Arf: 'A delicious blend of beer & ale'. It's compact size makes it really unique and desireable. White neon works well, graphics are in near mint condition, glass is in very condition with no cracks or chips, and case shows only the expected moderate wear (with a little white paint on the back). Extremely rare and very early back bar advertising lamp. This bottle of Schlitz beer would look great on your home bar! Much earlier than the cheap plastics of the 60's, this piece is all metal and glass, and both are in excellent condition. No breaks or cracks, brown painted finish shows only the expected wear. I believe this is 40's or 50's, it's a miracle that this piece survived with everything intact! Label appears to be painted on. Paint is in very good condition for it's age with only moderate wear. You might see a few little dings here and there, but that's to be expected and in general the graphics are incredibly clean, down to the original paper labels in back. Schlitz insignia on top is made of metal, and that too is in good condition with no breaks or cracks. Wiring is good, works well. Overall a fine piece, very realistic looking, with only moderate wear. It's nearly impossible to find these early light up advertising pieces in this kind of condition!   « Less

This is a quality early vintage advertising sign. Heavy porcelain on steel, this sign was made to last! Definitely not like later tin types, no bending or flexing here. And, it's the more desireable double sided sign! Advertising Piedmont cigarettes, popular around the early part of the century. There is some wear, a few spots where the porcelain is missing (clearly visible in the photos), a little discoloration and oxidation, mostly around the edges. Overall it's in very good condition for its age. Background is a beautiful, deep rich navy blue, lettering is a vibrant white.   « Less

This is a very special piece that I was saving for my own car. It's a new old stock catelin car clock. The box has a few little tears in the cardboard surrounding the clock, and a few spots on the outside, but is otherwise intact and still retaining the original graphics. Original paperwork and hardware is included. Catalin is a gorgeous butterscotch in very good condition with no breaks, cracks, or heavy scratches. Numbers are still clear and sharp. Clock works well, but as with all vintage items, is not guaranteed. Original mounting bracket makes it easy to use.   « Less

Fridtjof Wedel-Jarlsberg Nansen (1861-1930) was a Norwegian explorer, awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1922. In 1892, he announced a daring plan to be first to the North Pole. Nansen's radical idea was considered so off-the-wall that no scientist would volunteer to join him on a venture they believed was nothing short of suicide. He allowed his ship to become stuck in the crushing pack ice, hoping it would drift to the Pole, and then set off on foot across the frozen wastes. Nansen became the forefather of polar exploration, inventing practical techniques that today allow people to survive, travel and work in the most hostile and forbidding places on our plane S.A. Andree's (1854-97) was a Swedish explorer. He was the first Swedish balloonist and proposed a voyage by hydrogen balloon from Svalbard to either Russia or Canada to pass straight over the North Pole on the way.Two balloon crashed after only two days. Unhurt the explorers began the trek back south, but ended up on the deserted White Island in Svalbard where they died and were not discovered for more than 30 years.This truly unique piece represents an important Polar Expedition piece of memorabilia.
