Victorian, circa 1870 Wedgwood Majolica candle holder, the base in the form of three lily pads with their stems bound to form the handle. Lily flower at the center of the pads, with stamen forming the sconce. Glazed in green, ochre, white, turquoise and brown. Turquoise glaze inside the sconce and to the underside. Impressed maker''s mark ''WEDGWOOD'' and indistinct date cipher inside the foot. Good. No cracks. No hairlines. A few tiny flakes to sconce rim. Slight wear to underside of handle. Slight staining to sconce rim. Restored chip to rim and another to under rim. Repair to base of sconce. Restored flakes around the edge of central flower. 8ins wide, 2.5ins high   « Less

Victorian, circa 1870 Pair Majolica candlesticks in the form of a male and female harvester. The young man is standing cross legged, holding a bundle of corn under one arm, with his other elbow leaning on a branch. A beehive sits underneath the branch, with more corn and a scythe on the ground in front. The young lady has fruit and flowers gathered in her jacket, and holds some fruit in her left hand. More flowers are molded on the ground at her feet. Both figures are molded on circular, naturalistic mounds on top of scroll molded bases. Candle holders in the form of leafy pillars behind the figures, finishing in cobalt sconces. Cream glaze to base interiors, along with three stilt marks and a vent hole. Good. No restoration. Boy: Abrasions around the sconce rim. Girl: Kiln effects: shrinkage crack on one side of her skirt; shrinkage crack and a tight shrinkage line to underside base edge. Enlarged vent hole to underside. 12.25ins high   « Less
