Unusual oval shaped sewing box veneered in Coromandel with ornate gilded brass carrying handle and front escutcheon.
The interior of the antique sewing box contains its original blue silk lining with deep buttoned pad with a ribboned section for holding numerous sewing tools to the top lid. The base has the same deep buttoned cushion pad and around the interior it has seven pockets two of which contain a pin cushion & silk needle case.
This sewing box also has several sewing items although not shown in the pictures but were found in the box & they comprise of:
Bell Gauge dated 1847 by G.Chambers & Co, a hand made book emery board and three mending nylon compact.
This wonderful sewing box comes with a fully working lock & tasseled key.
