Custom built c1880 by a mason for a CT Masonic Hall. This shows great craftsmanship, leaf carvings, hand cut dovetails etc then other areas where you can see this was not factory or woodworker made. In the style of a railroad desk the bookcase section comes in 2 pcs. Base has turned legs and slightly slanted writing surface with 3 drawers. Diagonal slash carving decoration to legs. The writing surface is 4''x31''. Second section is 2 doors oak with walnut trim which open up to reveal, cubbies, envelope or folder slots and 2 solid birdseye maple drawers with recessed brass pulls. The top bookcase section has original wavy glass, walnut trimmed oak, 2 lg walnut turnings and fine small leaf carving. There would have been walnut finials on the top but they have been cut.
