The is a very fine 18th century American Massachusetts dense flame crotched mahogany reverse serpentine desk with exceptional bold serpentine bracket base feet. The brass bail handle hardware is original to the piece. The center arched prospect door conceals two additional dovetailed storage drawers. The interior is clean, balanced and straight forward. It could of been constructed possibly for an 18th Quaker family or simply a family that could not afford or want ornate carving and additional details. Choice selection of flame crotch dense mahogany. The desk is completely original. It has survived in a superb state of preservation. Period hardware Circa: 1780-1795 Mellow Nut Brown Patina
