Very rare pair of Baltic Russian Biedermeier walnut veneered sofas. Gilded lion masks and flowers; ebonized fans and stacked disc legs. Second quarter of the 19th century. Just in from an important Connecticut estate. These sofas are not only strong, they are also quite comfortable. Excellent condition. They each measure 84 inches wide overall, 60 inches wide between the arms, 27 inches deep overall, 20 inches deep inside the seat, 32.5 inches high at the arm, 36.75 inches high at the back, and 18 inches high at the seat.
