Here is one of the most exciting English black glass sealed wine bottles we have ever offered for sale! Probably belonged to John Smith, member of Parliament and house speaker. See Brise and Dumbrell. Wonderful early onion form with large prominent seal “I SMITH 1706”.
This important sealed bottle sold in a 2004 Glassworks Auction #70, lot 115 for $8,960.

English sealed wine bottles dated before 1710 are extremely rare! Bottle has a beautiful mild iridescent patina with no chips, cracks or other damages. A perfect 10! About 6 ¾” tall.
