Antique 18th - 19th century Islamic Indo Persian dagger Zirah-bhonk. Details: recurved single edged steel blade with thickened conical point and the sharp edge on the beveled back spine of the blade and chased on both sides with animals and scrolls, precisely hand forged whit its integral beveled ferrule and shaped tang fitted with a pair of ear shaped grip-scales, in its leather –covered wooden scabbard with iron chape and locket. The thickened and beveled point of the blade it is used for piercing through the rings of a coat of chainmail.


"Zirah bouk" “Zirah bonk”. It is a Persian word meaning 'mail piercer' (zirah = mail, bhonk = to cut or to penetrate). A dagger with a point thickened so that it was strong enough to be forced through mail”
