Rare Antique 17th century Islamic Mughal India - Deccan Chilanum Khanjarli Dagger, with characteristic recurved double-edged fullered blade with a prominent medial ridge and chiseled forte with sweeping quillions. The blade of this dagger with sweeping quillions is in characteristic form of the 16th - 17th century Chilanum daggers, but the hilt is in the typical Khanjarli form. The surface of the blade showing, slightly visible, Damascus steel wootz pattern. A hilt with Oxe bone scales and pommel of characteristically lunette form drilled with holes. In a purple, velvet covered, wooden scabbard.

CONDITION: Bone scales with age cracks, one old chip on one of the pommel scales, blade pitted.


MEASUREMENTS: The overall length in the scabbard is: 38 cm (15in). Overall length without the scabbard: 48.6 cm (14 5/8 in.
