Antique gothic mortuary drape out of old French funeral home. Black wool with rich, embroidered fleur-di-lys and metallic threads. Scalloped edge with old fringe. In good condition except for a few minor holes near the old metal hooks at the top. 7 feet long x 31" high. Makes a great valance or altar drape. Has been folded in storage but the folds will iron out. The Fleur-de-lis is the symbol for the iris and lily flower, the heraldic symbol of the former royal family of France and a good luck symbol and is often used in French jewelry, souvenirs and mortuary decor.
