This vibrant, large (20 x 26") watercolor, one of only 250 created by the venerable 20th century American artist J.E. Costigan (1888-1972), has had only one owner. Signed, in original frame under glass, the painting depicts a farm family working their land. The two muscular white horses add a virile dimension. The artist's son, Daniel, described this as a "beautiful watercolor". Undated but probably painted in the 40's or early 50's.
