Victorian, circa 1840 Early Victorian Staffordshire figure of a lion and lamb, both recumbent on a shaped, plinth base. The lion''s tail is swept over it''s back. Titled base with purple transfer print reading ''The young Lion shall lie down with the Lamb ISAIAH x10. 6v.'' Attributed to John Lloyd of Shelton. Shredded clay forms the lion''s mane and tail, and the lamb''s coat. Dull gilt decoration to the base. Decorated all round. Vent hole to underside. Similar piece illustrated figure 3027/3028, page 260, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 2, by A.& N. Harding. Fair. A few small paint losses to lion''s nose and back. Some rubbing to gilt. Kiln effects: touch mark to the lion''s back. Restoration of back and side of base. Restoration to lion''s front right paw. Restored chip to right hand side of base and lion''s front left paw. 4ins high by 4.5ins wide
