A very unusual Antique, early 19th century, Napoleonic era European saber in Mameluke manner with a curved single edged steel blade with a wide full-length fuller, the hilt in typical Mameluke fashion set on both sides with about 371 different size faceted studs in the Typical Russian Style of the Tula Workshops. In its leather scabbard with large steel mounts.  The swords in Mameluke style became popular in Europe after the campaigns in Egypt in (1798–1801). During the Napoleonic wars the swords in this fashion were made in most of the European countries.  Since the sword doesn’t have any maker’s marks, and no other marks or engravings, it is very difficult to tell the country of its origin, however, this determines that the sword was not mass produced in large numbers by the arms manufacturer (as all of this type of the swords have a maker's name) but was custom made in one example sword. Authentic antique, superb quality American Masonic Knights Templar York Rites Masonic Lodge sword. An elaborate hilt with a silver plated helmet pommel, surmounted by a perched dragon, a highly decorated cross-guard adorned on the center with an Ancient Cross in Crown in red and blue enamel, with the original antique scrimshaw cold white handle, engraved with the Cypher, and a Knights Templar Cross on the reverse side. A straight double edged blade etched at the forte with the sword maker M.C. Lilley & Co Columbus Ohio. The M.C Lilley Co. was founded in the mid 1860. The marking was used between 1882 & 1925. The blade id etched with scenes depicts the Knights of Templers jousting the Saracens in the Holy Land, flanked by Saracen castle and Templers tents on the right, a standing Templar Knight in armour holding a banner, panels of martial trophies, and the mounted knight in the gate of Jerusalem. The other side of the blade is etched on the center with the owner's name Edward.J. Huguelet flanked by Compass & Square, Ancient Cross in Crown and the Maltese Cross, the lower part etched with a standing Templar Knight in armour holding a banner, martial trophies, The symbol of the Skull and Crossbones within the motto "MEMENTO MORI” and the Cross in Crown on the forte. A nickel plated steel scabbard elaborately etched with the owner's name with three superb qualities, embossed and silver plated mounting decorated with red enameled Knights Templar Cross, and Cross in Crown. Antique, 18th-19th century, of superb quality and very finely engraved German pewter plate -dish. The plate is completely hand engraved with a portrait of Frederick the Great: King of Prussia in the oval medallion at the center, wearing his favorite uniform of the Prussian Life Guards, with the breast-star of the Royal Prussian Order of the Black Eagle, and the tricorn hat adorned with ribbon cockade. Medallion is surrounded by a panoply of arms and armor, banners and cannons, and leaves with the crowned shield with his royal, "FR" Cypher, Friedrich Rex, (King Friedrich). The front rim engraved with “Friedrich. II.” and garlands. The back is stamped with Touch mark Grünewald Bayreuth 1716 Fein Zinn, accompanied by two other Touch marks. The pewterers Family Grünewald of Bayreuth were active from beginning of 18th century to the second halve of the 19th century. The touch marks used in this period of time were almost identical except for bearing the differed date below the angle. The engraving on the plate was executed later, most likely in the late 18th century, or first half of the 19th century. CONDITION: Showing the age and usage with minor scratches. Extremely Rare Antique 18th century silver mounted Hungarian aristocrat sword which is not only a historical weapon but an important example of 18th century Hungarian Goldsmith Art. DETAILS: A solid silver stirrup hilt of typical 18th century Hungarian hussar form with an elaborate knuckle bow pair of langets, downbend rear quillon decorated with chiselled rococo floral design. A wooden grip bound in burgundy velvet and fitted with solid silver straps elaborately shaped and decorated in open work, repoussé, and finely chiselled with rococo foliage and scrolls. A long slightly curved single edged flat back steel blade, cut with a broad full-length fuller and a short slender fuller along the back-edge.Both sides of the blade are engraved with a scrollwork panel, and the mounted hussar wielding a sword. The sword comes with its original burgundy velvet covered wooden scabbard with large solid silver mounts decorated the same as the grip straps where it is elaborately shaped and decorated in open work, repoussé, and finely chiselled with rococo foliage and scrolls. The silver hilt and the scabbard mountings are fully hallmarked with imperial Austrian assay office marks “13” with the date 1750 and the small rectangular Goldsmith mark with illegible initials possibly “MI” or “IW” (7 hallmarks in total). References: International Hallmarks on Silver by Tardy (page 68). There are only a few examples of these 18th century Hungarian luxury sabres that are preserved in Hungarian museums. Most of them are associated with the important Hungarian aristocrats. Since there are only a few of these swords, the pictures of these few swords are continually published in Hungarian museum books. Four of these types of swords from the Hungarian sate museum were displayed on exhibition Europalia 99 Hungaria, which took place in Brussels in October 1999 and were displayed as the most significant Hungarian artworks from 1000 A.D. to 1800 A.D., including arms and armour and they are published in the book, Hongaarse Wapenpraal by Tibor Kovacs (page 105, No.88). Thus the swords are also published in the following references: Kardok" by Jozsef Lugosi - Ferenc Temesvari (No. 138-139) Vas, ezüst és arany - Nemzeti történelmünk fegyverei, szerzÅ‘: Temesváry Ferenc (Plate No. 12) Another similar sword is published in the book “Baroque Splendor Art of Hungarian Goldsmith” by Istvan Fodor (page 204, No. 196). Extremely Rare Antique, from the second half of the 18th century, Imperial Russian hussar officers’ sword (period of Empress Catherine II of Russia) with a 17th century Crimean Tatar “Czeczuga”, “Ordynka” sabre blade. DETAILS: A gold gild brass stirrup hilt of typical Russian hussar form with a solid knuckle bow with a pair of langets, downbend rear quillon, and a fluted back-strap rising up to form a maned lion head pommel, with a rounded button finial and wooden grip with its original white sharkskin bounding. A broad slightly curved single-edged blade, double-edged toward the point, made of Damascus steel with watered pattern; the outer side of the blade decorated along the spine with a gold inlayed long inscription within a silver inlaid margin. The ricasso of the inner side of the blade decorated with silver inlaid cartouche. The sword comes with its original leather-bound wooden scabbard stitched with spiral brass wire with large shaped brass mounts. This two 18th century Russian hussar officers’ swords with similar a brass hilt and white sharkskin bounding are published in the book “Fine Arms from Tula: Firearms and Edged Weapons in The Hermitage Museum” by Valentin Mavrodin (pages 88 & 98). Another similar 18th century Russian hussar officer sword is published in the book Russian Edged Weapons by Alexander Kulinsky .2005 (pages 150-151). We will also provide the buyer with photocopies of the page from the mentioned reference together with a certificate of authenticity. 19th century and early 20th century Russian military swords were made in large number for the army by state arms factories and are not as rare as Russian 18th century swords. Many 18th century Russian officers’ swords from the period of Empress Catherine II has the blade made in Tula. However, this sword is a unique example of authentic 18th century custom made swords for Russian hussar officers with very rare 17th century Crimean Tatar “Czeczuga”, “Ordynka” sabre blade mounted in gold gild brass mounting white sharkskin grip. A similar sword published in his book, Russian Edged Weapons by Alexander Kulinsky 2005 (pages 150-151, No. 76), has an old Turkish blade, in description of the sword on the page 113, author informs that some of these pattern swords have been mounted with Tatars, Turkish, and Persian sword blades were high priced in Russia, and due to its high cost they were only affordable for the members of high rank Russian nobilities. There are only a few examples of these rare 18th century Russian hussar sabres that are preserved in Russian museums. Being over 40 years in the antique business, for the first time we were fortunate to acquire such a rare sword Russian sword. This particular sword we had obtained together with other rare eastern European antiques, including antique Polish, Hungarian, and related Eastern European arms and armour from an old Canadian collection. Antique Islamic Mughal Indian dagger (KHANJARLI),17th century, Deccan India, with curved double-edged Damascus steel blade of a very fine wootz pattern, the blade has two small holes, one of circular form and the other of ellipse shape, originally those holes were set with two small precious stones. Blades inlaid with precious stones can be seen on very high quality Islamic swords and daggers of Damascus steel blades.
