Rare set of two Antique 18th century Turkish Ottoman Islamic daggers. DETAILS: The hilts are of cylindrical form, made of several individual pieces of very high quality rust-brown tone Jade, with a fine granular texture, and inlaid in gold with stylized palmettes and zig-zag band motifs, with a pommel and base in a turban form, enclosed by short horn cross- guards. Curved double –edged blades of Damascus steel, formed with a medial ridge, damascening on both sides of the forte, in gold koftgari with a scrolling motif.
In its unusual scabbard formed of turtle shell, and parchment terminating to an iron spike as an additional weapon.
Please note that the hilts of the daggers are made of rust-brown tone jade, not green Jade-Nephrite. Most of the jade hilted Islamic daggers, including Turkish or Mughal, have hilts carved from green Jade - Nephrite. This hilt is made of high quality rust-brown tone Jade, which is very rare, so the stone was traded as an expensive precious stone in small pieces, instead of big chunks as green nephrite, that is the reason why the hilt is made of several pieces.
MEASUREMENTS: The overall length in the scabbard is 35 cm (13 3/4 inches).
CONDITION: One of the horn quillon broken of, the cylindrical jade on the center is chipped.

SOLD An authentic antique Polish officer sword Model 1917 known as the Legionowka, as the swords were used by the officers of the Polish Legions (Legiony Polskie), a Polish More »
SOLD An authentic antique Polish officer sword Model 1917 known as the Legionowka, as the swords were used by the officers of the Polish Legions (Legiony Polskie), a Polish armed forces created in 1914 in Galicia, as the independent formation of the Austro – Hungarian Army.
DETAILS: A brass stirrup hilt deeply stamped on the outer side of the crossguard in an ellipse, MORAWSKI Ska w Warszawie, a leather-covered ribbed wooden grip, with an integral backpiece, decorated with the Polish crowned eagle, perched on an Amazon shield (Military pattern). A sturdy and heavy, slightly curved, single edged Austrian blade, with a wide full-length fuller, stamped on one side of the forte, L.ZEMLER, WIEN, the other side is stamped with the inspector marks, in its steel scabbard. Many Polish swords from the 1917-1920 period had Austrian, German, or Russian blades, and Polish made hilts, see (a) Andrzej Nadolski's “Polska Bron†page 163 (b) "Szabla żołnierza polskiego XIX i XX wiek" by Aleksander Czerwiński & Lesław Dudekan, Page 160. Also a comparable Polish sword with the same hilt, but with side bars, and the same Austrian blade, is published in the Catalog, "BRON I BARWA NIEPODLEGLEJ POLSKI 1918 – 1978", Page 53 No 38 EB, and also Page 56 No 41 JW. In 1921 a Polish Regulation pattern sword appeared, with Polish made blades, and the standard for all units of the Polish army, a single bar hilt. Due to the changes, all the swords in the Polish army must had single bar hilts, so the swords with hilts that had additional bars, were modified, and the side bars were removed to follow regulation pattern, see "Szabla żołnierza polskiego XIX i XX wiek" by Aleksander Czerwiński & Lesław Dudekan, Page 161-192. Therefore, the two side bars which were originally on the hilt of this particular sword, were removed to meet with the regulation pattern. For similar swords without side bars, please see: (a) "Dzieje szabli w Polsce" by Włodzimierz Kwaśniewicz, Page 171 (b) The Russian edition of the Book, "Polish Sword" by Wlodzimierz Kwasniewicz, published in Saint Petersburg 2005, Page 167, a color photograph of the Polish sword from the collection of the Russian Museum, and another on Page 138.
The buyer will be provided with a copy of the pages from the mentioned references, together with the certificate of authenticity.
CONDITION: The sword is in good condition considering its age, with signs of usage. Absence of the wire bound on the grip, the leather bounding of the grip is chipped, also there are small chips in the wood with signs of later repainting. The scabbard is with spots of surface rust, and oxidation, with some dents in the lower part of the iron scabbard, two screws from the scabbard mouth are missing. The blade is with spots of minor pitting, with signs of professional cleaning, the leather washer is cracked. The brass hilt is with minor nicks and scratches, a small dent on the backpiece.
MEASUREMENTS: Overall length with the scabbard: 102.8 cm (40 1/2 in), the length without the scabbard: 89 cm (35 in), length of the blade: 76.2cm (30 inches).
ALL ITEMS ARE GUARANTEED TO BE AUTHENTIC ANTIQUES, AND NOT REPRODUCTIONS.

SOLD An extremely rare museum quality authentic antique Polish Napoleonic Military Hat Rogatywka, most likely a hat of an officer of the Pospolitego Ruszenia Wojewodztwa More »
SOLD An extremely rare museum quality authentic antique Polish Napoleonic Military Hat Rogatywka, most likely a hat of an officer of the Pospolitego Ruszenia Wojewodztwa Sierackiego. The second known example of this particular model of hat is in Museum of the Polish Army (Muzeum Wojska Polskiego) in Warsaw, and is published in the book-catalog of the exhibition, “Napoleon i Polacy†by Macyszyn Jacek, Page 91. And also in the book “I PODAJE WIEK WIEKOWI†.Page 200 No.585 .The buyer will be provided with a copy of the pages from the mentioned references, together with the certificate of authenticity.
DETAILS: Constructed of leather, cardboard, and cloth, which was originally of light blue color, but is now completely faded, the actual blue color can be seen only in some small areas. The top of the hat is festooned with crossed silver bullion thread cord, which extends to the four side corners of the hat. The front of the hat is with a hanging, finely woven and braided, silver bullion thread chain, affixed on the top by two wire hooks. The rim of the side is with its original brass plume socket, fastened by brass domed pins, which is exactly as on the hat in the Polish Museum collection. A leather band with remains of its original brass scale chinstrap, on leather lining, secured by large embossed buttons. The interior is complete with its original full leather lining, and sweat band.
CONDITION: Well used, the fabric is completely faded and worn, absence of the visor, and the fabric on the band, the sweatband shows wear from routine field use, the leather lining is damaged, and the bullion cord is worn. I do believe that the stitches on the exterior of the fabric were later added to prevent the folding down of the fabric, which most likely was originally glued to the hat, as shown on the hat at the Museum of the Polish Army. To protect the hat from deformation, the previous owner had made of cardboard, leather, and Styrofoam, a supporting construction, which can be easily removed since it is not glued to the hat, but is just holding by pressure.
Considering the age and material, and that the hat is in its original condition free of restorations, as new elements, the item can be classified as in reasonable condition. All antiques are sold in the condition as acquired, we do not perform any restorations, but leave the decision regarding restoration to the future buyer.
MEASUREMENTS: Height: From the base of the hat to the highest point: 24 cm (9 1/2 in), overall length from the rear to the front corner: 32 cm (12 5/8 in).
We try to describe items exactly as we see them, and include as many good pictures as needed, so a buyer knows exactly what they are getting. We ask that buyers please look at the pictures carefully.
Please note that this hat is rarer than the hats of the famous Polish Napoleon guard lancers, of which there are many in museums and private collections, this is the second world-wide known example of this hat, only except for the one at the Polish museum.
Rogatywka is sometimes translated as peaked cap, a Polish generic name for an asymmetrical, peaked, four-pointed cap used by various Polish military formations throughout the ages. It is a distant relative of its 18th century predecessor, konfederatka, because of the use by members of the Bar Confederation. It consists of a four-pointed top, and a short peak. Although rogatywka (derived from rog = horn, corner) in English seems to mean the same as czapka - schapska.
