Antique, Victorian marriage set / demi parure consisting of earrings and brooch. Made early 19th century to circa 1850. Brooch / pin is a little over 2 inches long; earrings about 1 1/2 inches long, not including the gold loops. While anyone could wear this set, there is a belief that they were traditionally given to a bride. A very similar set was given by Thomas Jefferson to his wife, Mary. The jewellery is composed of very finely set seed pearls on a mother of pearl base. They are connected with white horse hair. Small pearls form little focal points. The pearls are arranged in a twining, overlapping arrangement with swags looping around the sides and bottom and tassles suspended from the bottom. THe work is exquisite. Tightly arranged, with no loose or missing bits. Very good condition. Weighs 5.1grams. Great looking little creepy crawly with 14 carat gold wings, engraved for finer detail, little gold legs and feet, a pointy gold nose. Eyes are little rubies. The thorax is in the form of a lovely aquamarine while the rest of the abdomen is a honey-gold coloured, cabochon gemstone. Ruby and aquamarine were tested. Hallmarked on the pin 14K. Good condition. Antique, Victorian with strong Etruscan Revival style, 18k gold, carriage ball earring covers made circa 1850-80. Approx 11mm (between 1/4 and 1/2 inch) in diameter. Weigh 5 grams. Very rare item: in the days of carriage travel and hijackings, wealthy women covered their gems with these globes that would fit around the drop wire and gem. Hinged, perfectly round globes with slots to accommodate the upper loops/wires and tiny granule thumbpieces for clasping and opening the hemispheres. The surface is entirely covered with minute, superb filigree twisted wirework, exquisitely applied in the Neo Classic, Etruscan Revival style, popular at the time. It is highly unusual to find carriage covers, and normally they are not either as beautiful as this pair, nor in such fabulous condition. The earrings test for 18k gold. Good condition. Combined weight 8.1 grams. Max length 1 1/8 inches. Fabulous retro design. A domed circle set with a raised diamond from which rays flare and scroll upwards and out, around and about. The scrolls are set with beautifuly bright diamonds, 40 in all, with a combined 2.70 ct weight. Comes with outstanding Art Nouveau lapel brooch fob. Measurements: approx 4 1/4 total length, including the fob; Watch is 1 1 /4 inches in diameter. Weighs 43 grams. Watch is suspended from a magnificent Art Nouveau brooch chain of openwork floral and foliate design with scrolling overlapping arches. The back has a hallmark, shown in the ''photos. The watch: lever set, 32.75mm in diameter. Black Arabic numerals beautiful hands, a timekeeping option and marked Girard Perregaux Chaux-De-Fonds on the face. Minutes demarcated in gold. It is cased in a honeycomb engraved case, delicately engraved on the back, the front with raised flowers and stems set with diamonds that pierce right through the lid/cover. Antique, Victorian 14carat gold and cabochon turquoise bracelet. Made 1850-1880. Measures approx. Over 7-1/4 inches long x approx 3/4 inches wide. Weighs a whopping 73 grams. Constructed with fine gold mesh links with flower-moulded tops, that allows for total flexibility. THe links are bordered on either side by rectangular links shaped like roof-tiles. The top is in the form of a buckle, set with lovely cabochon turquoise gems. The edge has an attached inverted bell shaped charm, bordered with the same turquoise cabochons and with a rich fringe of gold tassles, ending in golden beads. Workmanship is very fine. The overall effect is lavish beauty. The bracelet closes with a wide-tongued clasp in addition to a security chain. TOngue and some loops of chains are hallmarked. Hallmarks are not entirely legible. Bracelet tests at least 14k. Condition: close inspection and magnified ''photos show slight darkness, indicative of previous restoration towards the tip of the ''buckle''. This will not detract from your enjoyment of an otherwise fabulous bracelet.
