Antique champleve enamel and cut glass / crystal perfume bottle set in fitted stand. Called Boudoir bottles. Made in France circa 1900. Measurements: Total height 4 1/2 inches. 3 3/4 inches accross from side to side. About 2 1/8 inch front to back. The stand: Shaped - diamond like with rounded front and back. 6 panels of flowers secure the bottles within. Gilt metal borders containing marvellout enamelling with foliate patterns in the borders and the panels each with a variety of fabulous flowers, colours shades in every tone and shade. The rings around the necks of the perfume bottles exactly match the foliate panels of the stand. 4 bottles within the stand. On the sides are a pair of triangular shaped bottles, thick glass or crystal, almost figural from within. The middle bottles are cylindrical and fluted. Flame-shaped stoppers are faceted and with a bit of cleaning, glow and shimmer as the light catches them. The bottom of the stand is beautifully patterned in gold metal and has MADE IN FRANCE engraved in the center. COndition: the set was quite filthy when I bought it. I have done some preliminary cleaning and the set is already glowing and the enamel is clearly in great shape and very beautiful. I have not entirely removed all perfume residue. One bottle seems to be cracked inside the neck - not noticeable at all either with or without the metal and enamel collar, which hides the neck anyway. No other damage was found. Antique porcelain perfume bottle with cavoting figures. Made 19th century, Germany or England. Measures 3 3/4 inches high. Round base with a central pillar, entirely covered with applied foliage and colourful flowers. 3 people and a dog are modelled in a continuous scene around the pillar. A chicken perches on a nest forming the cap / lid of the bottle. The scene is very likely taken from the Commedia dell'' Arte with a crouching Columbine in brightly spotted yellow sheet, the fond lover and a scurrilous knave hiding on the other side, holding his dog on a lead (Pierrot and Scaramouche ?). The extreme gestures and poses are typical of these amusing scenes. The characters are all brightly dressed with handpainted detailing & gilding to their costumes, hair and facial features. The stopper, is in the form of a chicken sitting on a nest - one wing slightly stretched out as though she is either precariously perched or shocked at the shenanigans beneath her. There is not a clear mark. There is a raised section under the base, but it is not legible.
